Looking for cheap flights to New Delhi from Canada? Let us take the strain!
Boasting a population of almost 22 million, India’s capital, Delhi, offers the perfect mix of modern and traditional. Hidden away amongst Delhi’s modern high rises and developments are ancient tombs, ruins and religious buildings dating back centuries, brilliant for anyone who loves to explore.
Delhi itself is essentially split into two distinct parts. Old Delhi is the city of the Mughals and dates back to the 1600s. It’s the capital’s most busy and vibrant Islamic quarter whilst New Delhi is packed with bazaars, markets and temples including the imposing Red Fort, and the Jama Masjid, India’s biggest and most striking mosque.
As the city spreads, many shops, businesses and nightlife venues have moved into South Delhi where some of the city’s most ancient and awesome attractions can be discovered. On Lodi Road you’ll find Humayun’s Tomb and Safdarjang’s Tomb, as well as the remains of the six cities that existed before Old Delhi, most notably the Qutb Minar and the amazing ruins of Tughluqabad. And of course, don’t forget to eat as the locals do and enjoy some of the very best curry in the world.
